Charlie Stammers (Swindon Town FC FITC) joins our Fall 2023 Men’s Soccer programme.

We are delighted to welcome our second Swindon based soccer player in a week: 17 year old Charlie Stammers. Charlie really is the livewire box to box midfield player. He possesses an amazing engine and his stamina levels really are for the full 90 minutes. Charlie is the ideal player to have in your squad when the chips are down, as you can guarantee he will still keep going, encouraging his team mates to do the same. He is ideal captain material. Charlie is not the tallest of players but he certainly makes up for this with his tenacious appetite to win the ball. He will never let an opposition player rest comfortably on the ball and in doing this he is an inspiration to his fellow team mates.

Charlie has an excellent range of skills and techniques and is always comfortable when receiving the ball. He fully understands how to create space for himself in the centre of midfield and he also has an excellent range of passing skills, always seeking out the most positive pass.

Charlie, who lives in the Swindon area of Wiltshire, began playing soccer at the age of 8, joining his local junior club FC Calne, where he remained for 8 years. During his time at Calne, Charlie also attended the Bristol Pro Soccer Academy as well as the Southampton FC Development Centre. He was also a member and captain of FC Wiltshire for 3 years.  Having gained numerous awards such as Manager’s Player of The Year as well as Players’ Player of the Year, Charlie then joined Royal Wootton Basset Town FC and has remained playing there to the present day. He is currently a member of the club’s u19s squad and has been the club captain for the past two years. Charlie is currently attending the Swindon Town FC FITC Community programme, where he is able to train on a daily basis whilst gaining his academic qualifications. He is a qualified FA Level 1 Coach and has worked locally in coaching juniors aged 4-11. He is aslo the holder of the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Bronze & Silver Awards.

Academically Charlie is a hard working and mature student. He has a good set of GCSE qualifications and is currently studying for his CTech Level 3 in Sport & Physical Activity at The Commonweal School, Swindon. When he moves to a US College in Fall 2023, Charlie is hoping to study for a sport related Major.
