Sporting Chance USA is delighted to welcome 18 year old Ronan Bottomley to its Fall 2022 Men’s Soccer programme. Standing 6’4″ tall, Ronan presents an imposing central defender. He is rarely beaten in the air and for a tall player is quick and decisive in the tackle. He is technically very good on the ball and is comfortable playing anywhere across the back line or as a holding midfield player. Ronan also possesses a good range of passing skills and as he has a background of being coached at quality UK soccer academies, he will always play with his head up, seeking out the more positive pass. Ronan is also very useful at attacking set plays in and around the opposition box. Up to 2017, he played club soccer as a striker and was the league’s leading goalscorer in season 2016/2017.
Ronan began playing soccer at the tender age of 4, joining his local junior club Kingston Colts FC and played there from 2008 to 2020. At the age of 8 he was scouted by Swindon Town FC (English League Div 2) and following a successful trial period joined the club’s junior academy. During his time at Swindon Town FC, he was selected to play for the Swindon Elite Squad and remained in the Elite squad from 2013 to 2020. At the age of 16, Ronan was selected to represent Swindon Schools programme. He is now a regular member of the Swindon Town FC Football in the Community programme at the Commonweal School, Swindon and is also a member of Wantage Town FC u18s as well as the club’s Men’s Development squad.
Academically Ronan has a good set of GCSE qualifications and is currently studying at The Commonweal School, Swindon for his A-Level; Criminology and C-Tech in Business & PE. When he moves to a US College in Fall 2022, Ronan is looking to study a Sport related Major.
