17 year old Sam White (England Schoolboys u18s & Swindon Town FC C6) joins our Fall 2023 Men’s Soccer programme.
Sporting Chance USA is delighted to be able to introduce US Men’s Soccer coaches to centre midfield player; Sam White. Sam, who is currently playing soccer for Swindon Town FC C6 programme, has recently been selected for the England Schoolboys u18 squad. At just 17 years of age, Sam shows a maturity on the soccer field normally associated with much older players. His reading of the game is first class and he is a player who always appear to be in space with time on the ball. This is because of his understanding of the game and his excellent positional sense. Sam is a true box to box player and can literally play in any midfield position, be it centre or wide midfield. He has a natural turn of pace and combined with excellent on the ball technical skills , makes him a very dangerous attacking midfield player when running from deep. His long and short range passing skills are exemplary and he understands the importance of the timing of a pass. Standing 6ft tall, Sam is physically able to hold his own when it comes to tough midfield challenges and he is also very strong when competing in the air.
Sam began playing soccer at the age of just 5 and was soon playing junior soccer for the Reading FC u10s & u11s in the JPL (Junior Premier League). Whilst playing for Reading under 11s, he was also attending the Reading FC (English Championship) youth academy. On leaving Reading, Sam joined his local club Swindon Town FC (English League 2), playing and training at their youth academy. He remained at Swindon Town FC from u11s through to u16s, helping his squad win the Holland Cup at u12s level and winning several other prestigious tournaments and competitions. At the age of 16, Sam decided to join the Swindon Town FC C6 programme which provides both top level youth soccer and the opportunity to study to a high level. This season 2022/2023 Sam was selected to represent England Schoolboys u18s in a series of fixtures to be played in the new year. He is currently playing his soccer at Swindon Town C6 and for Swindon Supermarine u18s.
Academically Sam is an ideal student as his academic prowess matches his ability on the soccer field. He is a straight A student which in US terms would provide him with a current GPA above 3.5. He is now studying for his A Level qualifications in Biology, Geography & PE at the Commonweal School in Swindon. Sam is looking to take his SAT early in the new year and when he moves to a US college in Fall 2023, he will be looking to study a Geography Major.
