Hi Phil and John
Hope all is well. I’m settling in pretty well in my new surroundings. I’m still adjusting to the heat though. It was 47 degrees the other day!! Pre-season really isn't a joke over here either! I scored on my debut with my first shot and then I scored again on my home debut 4 minutes in with my first shot, so I am currently on a 100% goal scoring record! My coach has set me a target of a goal in every game and I’m willing to take up the challenge!! Thanks for all your help in the limited time we had.
Hello Phil & John
Sorry it has taken me so long to write but may I take this opportunity to thank you both for your work getting Nathan a place in America. I must admit on first impressions albeit on the internet Cumberland University more so Lebanon looked like it was going to be a place that would take some time to get used to, but thankfully how wrong we were. I travelled out with Nathan when he went so that I could have a look at the place and was overwhelmed with what I saw. The coach was very friendly and instantly likeable along with everyone else associated with Cumberland. The University itself is immaculate, the area fantastic. Nathan has settled in like a duck to water and is thoroughly enjoying every minute out there. The trouble with that is I now have to take my wife and daughter out there in October, but at least I will get to see a couple of games.
Once again thank you for your efforts and succeeding where a similar company in Scotland couldn't even be bothered - if only we had come to you first! I hope that you get good feedback from the coach and that Nathan represents himself and Sporting Chance USA in the very best way.

Hi Guys
Just wanted to let you know pre season at Rider has gone terrific. I have started both pre season games and scored and had an assist. Tonight is our season opener at home against Lafayette and I have been selected in the starting 11. I am so happy! Just saying - thanks again.

Hello John/Phil
We just wanted to thank both of you for the excellent service you offered in helping our son Jack achieve his ambition of playing soccer in the United States whilst studying for a degree. He has now been over at Genesee Community College in New York State for 2 weeks and after a rocky start (no bed) has quickly settled into his new life. He has made friends from both the soccer team and college study classes. Jack has played 4 games so far and is yet to concede a goal. The coach seems impressed with his abilities and has decided he will be his first choice goalkeeper for the season, being given the number 1 shirt. This has made Jack so happy and he seems to be enjoying the academic side of the experience just as much. He is already getting interest from some universities, so is keen to keep his grades up. Without your help we would not have known where to start and your expertise has been so valuable. We will keep you informed of Jack's progress and we hope to come back to you to look at universities in the near future.
Best Wishes

Hi Phil and John
Sorry it has taken me a while to send this e-mail, I have been extremely busy lately with pre-season training. I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for making this dream of mine a reality. I still can't believe I am here. The temperature and humidity here in Tennessee is unbearable but we have all been working hard and pre-season is going really well. I feel lucky to have been placed at Cumberland University and it has beaten the expectations that I had of it. The football team is a real good group of lads and we are all getting on fine. Luke and Harry should love it here. Once again, many thanks.
Nathan Gillespie – Cumberland University, Tennessee, 2010/2011

Hello
Sorry I haven’t replied in a while been busy with pre season and everything. All is really good here, having a really good time, the lads are great and the coaching staff are really helpful and know what they are talking about. Hopefully I will be playing the first pre season scrimmage down Illinois tomorrow in preparation for the season. Once again thanks for everything and hope is all well. Hi Phil
I want to say thank you to yourself, Elaine and John for the opportunity you have provided me this year. I am now in the process and packing to leave for America on 11th Aug and without Sporting Chance USA I would not have been given this opportunity. The university I am going to have made the process feel easier along with yourselves. I would recommend your company to any other person requiring a scholarship because the support you provided me has helped me live my dream. Thank you.

Ryan went on Thursday and spent a few days living with Carl (his coach). He is loving it already and his friends are most envious. He went to a beach party on Saturday night on the lakes.
He moved into his accommodation yesterday, they started training at 7am this morn, followed by another session this evening.
Thank you & Phil for all you help.

Hi John
It was a pleasure working with your company. I completely understand how hard it has been for you to place these kids in schools this year, especially if they have taken a BTEC. Averett can take these kids and hopefully we will work with you again.
Have a great day,

Thanks to you and Phil for all you do. I know the process gets frustrating sometimes. Some players sail
through the admissions process, while others with the same or similar credentials get held up. I do not
know your salary, but you earn every penny!
Thanks again.

Just wanted to let you know I had my VISA approved on Saturday and will be flying out to Post Uni on the 14th August to start pre-season training!
Thanks for all your help - I'm really excited and can’t wait to get started. I'll let you know how things work out over in the States in a few months.
Thanks again,

“She Kicks is proud to announce it has teamed up with Sporting Chance USA to form a Commercial Partnership that will assist young women who are seeking to secure a soccer scholarship to the States.
She Kicks scoured the globe to find a suitable partner with the right ethos, philosophy and credentials to deliver the necessary support, understanding, time and commitment to readers who are considering the possibilities of a football scholarship in the U.S.
Over a hundred girls from the UK are currently studying and playing in the U.S. (61 were at Division I Soccer programmes, this past autumn season). Many more of you will inevitably be keen to explore the opportunities of what a scholarship in the States could hold for you: a valuable education, the opportunity to play the sport you love at a highly competitive level, top coaching and life experience you won’t get here in the UK.
“I’ve spoken to a number of organisations who offer this kind of service and without a doubt Phil Selby and his staff offer the most professional service and personal attention to detail, by far. Their success rate is amazing. I put this down to their relationships with a large group of college coaches and also how they handle the players. I feel very confident and comfortable endorsing Sporting Chance USA and am excited for our readers too”, commented SheKicks' Commercial Manager, Anthony Nolan.”
Hello Phil
This is Darren Back. You may not remember me, but we met in Nottingham and you recruited me for Adrian Blewitt in 2006 (Lenoir-Rhyne College).
I hope you are well? It is good to see your own agency is still giving kids a fantastic opportunity. I could not imagine what I would be doing now if I had not met you!
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I graduated in May 2008 and got married in March 2009. I have been coaching since and just recently accepted an Assistant Women's soccer coach position for Northwestern State University (LA).
The head coach at Northwestern is trying to recruit more European players but is sceptical of going through agencies. I immediately thought of you and told him of your agency and how it was different to many others.
It would be great to hear from you and see if we can help each other out in anyway.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Regards,
Darren

Hey Phil
Hope all is well, haven't spoke to you in a while so thought I'd give you an update on how things have gone over the last few months. Our team did really well we won our District and Region which got us to the National Tournament 1st time since 2002, finished the season ranked 8th in the Nation with a record of 18-7. On a personal note i had a pretty good season, i was made team captain, Defensive Player of the Year, 2nd team All Conference, Conference Player of the Week, and I also got selected for the National Team of the Tournament.
George Curry also had a great season he got Player of the Year along with 2nd team All Conference. So all an all it’s been a very good season. Anyway hope you had a nice Xmas and best wishes in the New Year.
Thanks again

Hi Phil
Just a thank you from us all for getting Niall involved in the 2009/2010 Soccer Showcase game. All three of us enjoyed the day and were amazed how well things went due to the weather conditions. We had a chat on the way home and couldn’t believe how positive Niall was with regard to gaining a scholarship. We were impressed also with the way that Warren Turner (Erskine College) covered the points that sprung to our minds. It was also nice to meet Elaine, and to chat about the "old days" at Notts County with John.
Thanks once again for your input so far.
Brian and Tracey Harrison
Hi Phil.
Hope all is well? Just checking in to say hi really! Things are going good out here, it's Fall break this week so we have the week off school. We have started our conference run now and play two games away in Texas at the end of this week.
I have scored 2 goals from right back this season, they came in our first game of the season last week, here is a video of them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7Kd_BfA3qE
I also got one assist in that game too.
Let me know how things are at your end, will be good to hear from you.
Take care,

Hi Phil,
Sorry I haven't been in contact for a while but I'm sure you could have guessed how busy I've been!!
Firstly, just to say thanks so much for everything you did for me to get me out here, you don't know how much I appreciate it, it's going to be the best 4 years of my life you can just tell.
If you ever want me to give a quote on your website or anything to promote you or your company I'll happily do that no problem.
(Jack Pearson - Freshman 2008/2009 University of Dayton, Ohio).
Hi Phil
I know Zak emailed you last night saying that he'd like to go with Sporting Chance USA , but I just wanted to thank you from the parents' point of view.
I must say that yesterday we were really happy that you had good answers for all our questions, and when we left you Amanda and I were in no doubt that you were the better option. We let Zak decide for himself, of course, (as it is his life after all!) but thankfully, he was similarly impressed.
The main clincher for us was the 'continuing' support you provide. You are still in contact with kids and parents who have gone off to the States, checking their progress and helping where needed. You provide time at the showcase game to cater for the parents and give them information. I know also that I shared Zak's belief that you have a huge passion for what you do.
I'm really excited about the coming months and seeing Zak's dream come to fruition and I'm looking forward to working with you to help make that happen.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Paddy

Hi Phil
I know it took me a long time to come back to you since I moved to Radford University here in Virginia in Fall 2009. I am very proud to be a product of Sporting Chance USA. Things has been going very well for me both in the field and academically. So far I have scored 3 good goals and as a Midfielder, I am happy for this achievement. I have also played each and every game. My team members are all fantastic and supportive players and the Coach is superb and a well respected man.
I realised that Sporting Chance USA don't just recruit athletes for the sake of getting their money but they only take those with the talent, education and ability, because I have been very impressed by Myles Jones' ability here at Radford. He is a solid, talented and quality player for us and he has commanded first Jersey in the team in his first year as well.
Phil Selby is a great guy and knows exactly where to place his athletes, because I am enjoying life here in Radford. All athletes who want to join from Africa, please do not hesitate to deal with Phil, because he is the right man, so why not join Sporting Chance USA for 2010.
Phil and Gladman, I want to thank you guys for what you have done for me. I will continue to shine here in Radford for you, we are going for the tournament next week and I promise to shine and score another goal to dedicate it to Sporting Chance USA.

Hi Phil - sorry it has taken me so long to get round to this, but here goes
"Well, she has gone and as we haven't heard from Ellie for nearly a week, and from what we can gather from her facebook, is now very settled and enjoying life at Appalachian State University.
She would never have had this opportunity of a full scholarship to a top university in America if it wasn't for Phil. When Ellie first said she wanted to go to the States to combine her tennis with a university education, we contacted a well-known company in the UK who also deal, with getting athletes to universities in the USA, but they wanted an extortionate amount of money for their services and didn't hold out much hope for Ellie, as they said her UK tennis ranking was not particularly high (4.1).
We then contacted a company in the US, paid them, and heard nothing!!!
By now it was February 2009 and we really thought we had blown it for this year. However, as one last attempt, we found Sporting Chance USA through the internet and from then on it was all systems go.
Phil did all the hard work for us, contacting the universities with a resume of Ellie's tennis achievements and academic qualifications. He also told us that for Ellie to stand a chance at a good University, she would have to resit the SAT to gain a higher mark (which she did).
We didn't really hold out much hope of a Division I University offering Ellie a scholarship but in the end, thanks to Phil's excellent marketing skills, she had several to choose from and chose Appalachian State as it is a Tier 1 University, ranked 9th.
Phil held our hand every step of the way, even telling me off at one stage for listening to well-meaning parents of other children at University in the USA, when they told me we had left it too late in the day.
There is a lot of paperwork to do (and money to hand over at various stages) but I always knew Phil was at the end of the phone, or if I emailed him, the response was immediate.
Thanks Phil, you have certainly pulled it off for Ellie, the rest is now up to her!
Debbie Linsell – Mother of Women’s Tennis player - Ellie Linsell: Appalachian State University - Fall 2009.
Hi Phil,
I'm really enjoying it here, the team is great and has a really good spirit and all the other people and friends I've made are really cool, because it's such a small place there isn't a lot to do but they have a Students Activities Board, which set up some good nights out and parties which are popular within the college. I haven't got home sick and I don't think I will be doing. I only want to go home so I can thicken up my accent haha, the girls love it!!! But ye, it is a really good college and I am enjoying it.
Dan Walmsley – University of Charleston, West Virginia - Fall 2009.

Just a quick word to thank you for all your time and effort in getting Kevin to America. It could never have been done without your direction, hard work and attention to detail. On behalf of Kevin we would like to thank you very much and wish you continued success.

Hello Phil
How are you doing? I am having a really great time in the United States! All of my classes have started and my basketball has begun too. The classes are going great and i have been getting good grade too, it’s a lot different from home though especially essay writing and things but I’m coping well. Training has been really good, we have just been doing a lot of conditioning and running but it’s been good! We are scrimmaging once a week too, which has been good and all the girls are really nice! It’s not a lot different from how we play at home but the fitness level is a lot higher. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to fulfil these dreams. Have a great day

I have been in America now for 2 weeks and loving it so far. The training is very hard and more or less exactly how you described it. Thanks very much for all your help to get me here. I defo would not be here if it wasn’t for you thanks a lot.

In February 2008 Billy Sparks joined Sporting Chance USA to seek a Soccer Scholarship in the USA - very quickly Phil Selby had a couple of very good offers for Billy both of which would have been good opportunities - however, the SAT exam proved testing and these offers had to be declined - undaunted Phil had great faith in Billy and in June 2008 he was instrumental in getting Billy an NAIA College place to start in August 2008 - the paperwork involved was immense but Phil guided us through it effectively and professionally pointing out the 2 from 3 options (a good GPA, top 50% in graduation class, SAT 820 or ACT 17) so that Billy spent some time in the USA at the College before deciding it was not for him - at this point Billy was advised to return to UK college and try again in Fall 09 which we believe was the best option - Phil continued to market Billy, encouraged him to take ACT as an alternative to SAT and gave him the chance to impress USA coaches in the 'Sporting Chance USA - December Soccer Showcase' - the ACT was successful, Billy met lots of good USA coaches, played well enough to receive 3 great offers and word of mouth back in the USA resulted in 2 more offers early in 2009 - Phil's Soccer Showcase was a massive success for 90% of the players attending - at this point Phil's knowledge of the USA Soccer Scholarship scene really came to the fore - knowing his players so well he is able to match them up at Colleges and Universities that suit them best - this was the case with Billy who will now be flying out to Tennessee, with 2 more of Phil's players, in August this year - in thanking Phil for all his efforts we are bound to say that in the 18 months Billy has been involved with Sporting Chance USA we have witnessed a real respect develop for Phil's expertise in this subject area both from his clients in the USA as well as his own players here in the UK - his is a company that provides great value for money

Hi Phil,
Thanks a lot for everything, I am as sure as I could be that this wouldn't have been possible without you, and the one-to-one service you provide has been invaluable throughout the journey.
First training session tomorrow, a bit nervous but all the lads seem good. Classes start tomorrow too, nervous again but I’ll be alright. Keep in touch and hope to see Josh out here soon.

Hi Phil
I saw the article about me in my local paper yesterday and just wanted to thank you for putting it in. My parents have obviously cut it out and will probably frame it. Just to let you know, I'm flying out on Monday and again, I just wanted to thank you for your guidance to get me where I am. I shall keep in touch and update you with how it's going. If you have a presentation at Warwickshire College, I'd be more than happy to come and promote it for you providing I'm back in the UK.

Hey Phil
Finally here after 4 years of trying, it’s now reality thanks to you!
Got here on Wednesday ain’t kicked a ball yet tho because I may have a stress fracture in my right foot due to me running on roads back home, so I’m waiting on an x-ray on Monday to see if things are going to be ok!
Apart from that, everything here is great the college is nice, the facilities are nice and I couldn’t have asked for a better apartment! So far so good, it’s raining today but previous to that it’s been sunny. The coaches are great guys and can coach so it’s going to be good, can’t wait to get stuck in though!
Anyway thought I’d let you know how things are going, and hope that you are well.

Hi Phil,
I arrived in the USA last week Thursday and I arrived in North Carolina on Monday. I had a tour of Belmont Abbey College by my assistant coach and two of the boys from the school Aaron and James. They showed me around and I am gettin used to the surroundings.
I am probably going to move in to the rooms by Friday, because my mum and sister are still here in the hotel near the school, so I might stay with them for the next few days.
But all in all I am doing fine, thank you for helping me and granting me this opportunity to enhance my football and academic career, I will keep in touch with you and all at Sporting Chance USA.

Just wanted to post an email saying thank you for all your help in finding me the best scholarship.
I flew over to Atlanta last week and moved into Kennesaw apartments yesterday. Just finished my first training session and really felt I fitted in and I really enjoyed it. Looks like it’s going to be a great season.
Thanks again and I will recommend your business to my friends looking to go to the US.

Phil, just to say a big thank you for making Luke's dream come true. He flew to North Carolina this morning 7/8/08 to embark on his 4 year scholarship, it has been an emotional journey with lots of admin and of course the SAT! You have made the journey a smooth ride and Luke will do what he does best - make us all proud and continue to achieve, both academically and as a goalkeeper. It was by chance we met when Luke was at Mansfield Town and I am so glad we did, because Luke has not looked back since. Away from the Premier clubs, America has to be the answer for talented and bright footballers, Sporting Chance USA offers something special - a Second Chance! Thanks Phil.

Hi Phil,
Just another quick update. We've now played 9 games winning 6, drawing 1 and losing 2 which isn't bad but we had a couple of bad weekends last month. I've now scored 3 goals and an own goal! So I'm putting the ball in the back of the net at both ends!
I've started every game and feel like I'm getting to know the game better over here and adapting well with the different styles of training and that. The weather has suddenly got cold but it was really hot last week when we flew down to
I've spoken to a couple of the Forest lads and they seem keen that if they if they don't get another contract, they would love to come out here with me. I've told them they would love it and they should try and get in contact with you once they have more information about what they are doing next year.
Hope things are good back home in

We recently had Phil Selby attend South Devon College to give us an insight to the scheme you run. After listening to Phil and what he had to say, this has really made my mind up about really digging in hard and working to get there. The talk was excellent and really beneficial, I now believe it's time he did a talk where our parents could attend with us one evening and give the same presentation to them, to convince them of how big an opportunity this really is. I would be grateful if it was possible to arrange 1 soon???
Be good to hear back from you soon.
Thanks
