Marc Whyte (Swindon Town FC FITC) joins our Fall 2018 Men’s Soccer programme

Sporting Chance USA is delighted to welcome 17 year old Marc Whyte to its Fall 2018 Men’s Soccer programme.

US Coaches looking for a hard working holding midfield player who has the ability to play in a variety of positions should definitely take a good look at Marc. He is at his most comfortable playing the holding midfield role, playing just in front of the defence, although he has also spent a number of years playing wide right defence. He has an excellent understanding of the positional play required to play both roles. He is predominantly a right footed player and possesses good on the ball technical skills. He is a player that will always play with his head up and is comfortable taking a first touch of the ball so that he can make positive forward passes on his second or third touch. Standing 5′ 10″ tall, Marc is also good in the air and will always win his share of aerial battles. He also likes the opportunity to get forward for set plays and can always be relied upon the chip in with his share of goals.

Marc who is 17 years of age comes from Swindon and attends the Swindon Commonwealth School. He is currently a member of the Swindon Town FC Football in the Community programme and will be playing for this squad in the forthcoming 2017/2018 season. He is also a member of the Stratton Juniors FC u18s squad. Marc began playing soccer at the age of 7 joining his local junior club Shaw Youth u8s. It is an indication of Marc’s dedication and loyalty that he remained with Shaw through to the age of 15, winning numerous championships and trophies on the way and he was named the club’s Player of the Year for 5 consecutive seasons. It is also worth noting that Marc is an FA Level 1 Coach working regularly with disabled young people in his local area. Marc is looking to take his FA Level 2 coaching award before he moves to the US.

Academically Marc is a strong student possessing a number of very good GCSE grades. He is currently in the second year of his CTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at the Swindon Commonwealth School. When he moves to a US College in Fall 2018, Marc hopes to study for a Sports Science Major.
