Sporting Chance USA welcome 17 year old Ben Paul to its 2020 men’s soccer programme. US soccer coaches seeking a quality right sided defender for Fall 2020 should definitely take a good long look at Ben. As well as being a very intelligent young man both on and off the field of play, Ben has a great understanding of defensive positional play. He is a good ball winner and can always be relied upon to stop crosses coming into the box. He is also very quick to spot potential danger and is always available to support his central defenders whenever required. Ben is also a very fit young man and has no trouble playing the very demanding wing back or midfield role should a coach request it. He is always looking to support both his midfield and attack and is a very good crosser of the ball.
Ben who comes from Swindon in Wiltshire began playing soccer at the age of nine and actually began his career as a goalkeeper. At the age of 13 he found he had ability as an outfield player and consequently played for two Junior Premier League teams at the week-end (Saturday & Sunday), appearing in goal for one team and outfield for the other! Having helped both teams win several championships and cups, at the age of 15 Ben moved on to join Swindon Town FC Elite, which is the feeder team to the Swindon Town FC (English League 2) Youth Academy. Whilst playing for the Elite squad, Ben captained the team in the Gothia Youth World Cup, in Gothenburg, Sweden. This season 2018/2019, Ben is playing for the Swindon Town Sixth Form Academy at the Commonweal School, Swindon (mid-week) and for the Royal Wootten Bassett FC development squad, (men’s soccer). As well as being an excellent soccer player, Ben is also gaining a good reputation as a junior soccer coach, as he is already holds the FA Level 1 Award as well as being a Level 7 qualified referee. Ben plans to take his FA Level 2 coaching award in 2019 and will continue to work with local young players on a weekly basis.
As far as academics are concerned, Ben Paul is an ideal candidate for any US College. He is a straight As student in most of his GCSE subjects and he is currently studying A-Levels in: Psychology, Biology & PE at the Commonweal School, Swindon.
