16 year old Abigail Collins becomes the third George Watson’s College international player to join our Women’s Field Hockey programme

Sporting Chance USA is delighted to welcome 16 year old Abigail Collins to its Fall 2020 Field Hockey programme. Abby become the third top quality player we have recruited from George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, which is widely regarded as Scotland’s No1 Field Hockey College. Like her predecessors, Abigail is also a talented striker who can also play in a wing position. She is a natural goalscorer and combines this skill with both pace and technical ability. Being a highly intelligent girl, Abby has a great understanding of playing the striker role and is excellent at holding the ball up whilst bringing better placed players into the game. The very fact that she is playing regularly for Scotland’s leading Field Hockey college, as well as the prestigious Watsonians  Ladies 2nd X1 speaks volumes about her ability and the standard of coaching she is receiving on a regular basis.

As well as representing Watsonians, Abby has represented the East of Scotland at National level in 2016,2017 & 2018. She has also represented the Scottish National Hybrid Squad in 2017. During her time at Watsonians Abby has helped the club win the Scottish Club Cup in both 2016 & 2017. She has also toured Singapore & Malaysia with her college’s First X1, winning the Most Improved Player Award. As an indicator of her all round fitness and athletic ability, in 2016 Abby was selected for the Scottish Schools Athletics Team.

Academically Abby has an excellent set of academic grades and is looking to complete her Scottish Highers qualifications in 2020. When she moves to a US College Abby would like to study for a Psychology Degree.
